Joyce Chu

Joyce Chu is an award-winning journalist covering homelessness and equity issues in Santa Clara County.

She has covered a broad range of topics, including environment, government, crime, and homelessness, and seeks to shed light on injustices and bring accountability through her work. She previously reported from Virginia, where she exposed the mistreatment of elderly and disabled residents living in an assisted living facility, leading to the state shutting it down. In 2023, she was honored as the Journalist of the Year by the Virginia Press Association.

Joyce was born and raised in Southern California and spent a stint on the East Coast before returning back to her home state. She enjoys going to coffee shops, talking to strangers, doing anything creative, the great outdoors, and a hot cup of loose leaf tea.
